Christmas is well and truly on the way, and with the icy arctic blasts showing no signs of abating, the best way to do your christmas shopping this year is with your feet up, by a roaring fire, complete with a glass of mulled wine.

With our economy in what seems to be a permanent crisis, its even more important than ever to support small businesses close to home. Shop Handmade UK features hundreds of british designers in its directory and there are so many choices online when it comes to handmade present options. So I have picked out some of my favourites from the directory (and from a few other places too) to help ease the burden of deciding what to buy your sister / father / friend / postman / neighbour's dog etc this year.

With our upcoming directory changes I'm looking for volunteers who would like to contribute to regular blog posts here on Shop Handmade UK's blog. The new directory will have 12 categories and I'd love for each category to have a regular guest contributor to post here on new designer-makers in that category, finds, business tips and more. The 12 categories are:

I've been contacted by Laura who is the owner of Pink Power Photography & Gifts in the Bailgate area of Lincoln. Laura sells her own photo art via her retail store along with many handmade crafts from local artisans. Laura is now looking to expand the products her store stocks and is seeking designer-makers in all crafts, in particular she in seeking makers of plushies, sock monkeys and children's gifts.

Directory Overhaul

Hi Everyone,
The Shop Handmade UK directory has steadily been growing and has now reached over 1500 UK based designer-makers so I think it's time for an overhaul of the directory. My aim is to help shoppers find you and your products based on the end use or function. I'm proposing removing just 2 categories, changing the names of others and adding to most a range of sub categories as some of the main categories like Jewellery, Accessories and Homeware & Gift are getting very large. I'd also like in each sub-category to feature in the top 5 product spots a product from every designer-maker listed in that sub-category so there is variety on each page.

Here are my proposed changes:

Shop Handmade Australia

Hi All,

Well it certainly is a small world and only about 4 weeks before I was due to jet off down under on holidays I was contacted by the lovely Julie of Shop Handmade Canberra in Australia. Their setup is slightly different, they started with their very popular Handmade Markets held 4 times each year which has now grown to become a high street shop in addition to the market. Shop Handmade Canberra opened in April only 7 weeks prior to my visit and I have to say the shop is gorgeous and the ladies behind the concept were lovely and all so very talented.

My visit was timed well as the next day the Handmade Market was on so I ventured over to browse over 120 stall holders in a beautiful location with so much on offer. It got my mind racing and I could just see so many of the gorgeous products our UK designer-makers create on the shelves of a high street shop dedicated to only handmade. Trade Secrets

Hi All,

Not often do you get the chance to take a look behind the scenes of someones business and learn their trade secrets but now you can. Leona Baker, the creator of cult indie jewellery brand Lady Luck Rules OK has been running Jewellery Workshops & Trade Secret Talk events in London and is now taking her popular worshops on the road.

The Trade Secret Talk will cover topics such as how to start, run & grow an independent creative business; how to successfully sell online; PR, marketing and social media; wholesale & trade shows; and how to deal with the tough stuff like competitors and copycats!

The Jewellery Workshop reveals all their unique production methods & materials, the importance of sampling, working with manufacturers, where to source and practical tips on how to achieve the best results. The techniques involved can also be applied to many other products including accessories, clothing, home wares, greetings cards and stationery.

The initial London talks and workshops have been attended by a wide variety of people from artists, graphic designers & illustrators, boutique owners, jewellery designer/makers and include a Central St Martins Design Tutor and attendees who’ve travelled from Paris and Italy.

There are 6 worshops around the UK so everyone has the chance to attend one close by. As a jewellery designer-maker and jewellery supply seller I've already booked my ticket to attend the Birmingham workshop on Sun 1st August. Dreamaid in the Press - Get on Board NOW!

Well it's certainly getting busy now we are days away from Christmas. Shop Handmade UK was at the recent Handm@de Fair in Oxford and it was a great day. Hi All,

I've been really busy this past week getting the Competition Boxes & the Gift Boxes ready and looking beautiful for the Handm@de Fair in Oxford this Sunday 29th November. Shop Handmade UK is sharing with my jewellery store Mia Belle Jewellery so lots of display planning has been underway.

I'm really looking forward to this fair for a number of reasons. It's been a while since I've attended a fair and the Handm@de group of fairs are dedicated to handmade only goods, are always well organised and well attended. It will also be nice to get out away from the PC and meet other designers & makers IRL that I chat to via twitter or email.

Gift Boxes Now On Sale!

Back again to let you know I am thrilled to have finally completed the Gift Boxes. I should clarify that these were called Sample Boxes which is fine but related to the old concept of a sample box. As these fabulous boxes do not have sample size goods but full size products and look gorgeous it seems appropriate to rename them Gift Boxes. There are a total of 15 boxes, all limited so don't delay as they will also be available for purchase at Oxford Handm@de Fair on Sunday 29th November.All goodies have been provided by 27 handmade designer / makers and each have offered their goods at a reduced prices allowing us to offer each box with a 45% discount which is a huge saving in these lean times. The Gift Boxes are a great idea for treating yourself, buying for someone a little fussy or split a box and create gifts for many. New Featured Designer - Gooseberrymoon

Hi Everyone,

It's been busy this week, all the competition donations are in and I've nearly finalised the Competition page. There were so many donations I've split the prize pool into 2 lots both worth over £200 so stay tuned for more info.

I just added a new Featured Designer to the site, the lovely Nicky from Gooseberrymoon. Nicky creates beautiful social & wedding stationery and I can say it's stunning, I have the lovely Stems Notecard set here in the office as Nicky donated this to the competition. Sample Box Launch

Hi All,

After many months of discussion, testing & calculations I'm very pleased to be able to launch the first run of Shop Handmade UK Sample Boxes. For those newer readers to the blog you can read more details on Sample Boxes here.

What does the Sample Box Offer Sellers?
Sample boxes are a way to get your goods into the hands of buyers and to get your brand noticed. In the past sample boxes have involved designers giving goods away for no payment so this becomes a costly form of marketing. Our box concept aims to pay designers their costs associated with making their goods therefore making the cost of this form of marketing nil.

What does the Sample Box Offer Buyers?
Sample boxes are a way for buyers to purchase a range of designers goods at a reduced sample price to try. They may not have normally purchased your goods or may have bought lesser value items, the sample box is a way for them to see and feel your goods and know what to expect when they purchase from you in future.

How will the Sample Boxes be promoted?
Once the sample boxes have been grouped they will be photographed and promoted on a dedicated page on Shop Handmade UK detailing each product (with a link to the designers store) in the box with the usual RRP and the special sample price.

This page will have a link to one of the UK selling sites where buyers can purchase the sample boxes. In addition to selling online Shop Handmade UK will be at the Handm@de Fair Oxford on Nov 29th where we will have all available boxes for sale.

There is just one decision to make and that is where to sell the boxes. Both Coriandr & Folksy have kindly agreed to Shop Handmade UK setting up a shop to sell them. Unfortunately Etsy have not permitted them to be sold their at this point in time. I've created a poll so you can tell me which site you prefer, whilst we like to promote all UK selling sites I am only setting up one shop to reduce admin work and as costs do not permit the boxes to be duplicated over multiple sites.

Which site would you like the Sample Boxes sold on?(opinion)

How will Designers be Paid their Costs?
We must abide by the distance selling rules for online purchases and we must ensure goods are received so payments will be held for 14 days to cover any refunds / returns requested. We will notify you that the box your product/s were in has sold and after 14days we will pay the amount you have requested via Paypal.

How to get involved
If you are a designer / maker and would like to submit 1 or more products to be included in the Sample Boxes I need the following information from you to determine suitability for inclusion:

Image of your product
Quantity you wish to submit
The cost you would need to be reimbursed to cover materials & time
The RRP of the product

You need to email these details to info [@] shophandmade.co.uk. As the Sample boxes offer buyers a discount of between 35%-40%, products that have been priced with wholesale pricing in mind are usually more suitable. Once I have calculated your product I will be in touch to advise the next steps.

I am looking to have the boxes ready for sale by 2nd November to give a good sale time in the lead up to Christmas. I've set a cut off date of Mon 19th October for all goods to be received which is just 2 weeks away so if you want to get involved please do not delay and submit the required information now.

Dreamaid - Help build their new Knowledge Base

Hi All,

I've been contacted by Dreamaid.com, they are one of the new sites I blogged about last week here as they are currently working on their new knowledge base system. They are seeking members help to comment and vote on their plans. Whilst the full details of Dreamaids' knowledge base has not been released yet, from what I have been told it's where handicrafts people can exchange techniques, ideas and expertise but with a few features over and above your standard forum.

The knowledge base is due to be launched next week so those who are already members, and those who join now will receive an invite to participate in this project. Dreamaid are still being filmed as part of a TV documentary, due to air in November which will no doubt result in much PR and hype over the site and those sellers already selling there. Last Call for Competition Donations!

Hi All,

I'm finalising plans for the Shop Handmade UK competition / giveaway. Thanks for those who have donated items already: See The Woods, Studio Gilead, Hollie Lollie, CV Jewellery, April Daisies, Beady Pool, Jenny Flower Blue, Dig the Earth, Dollipops, Myfuroshiki, Mia Belle Jewellery, Milly & Pip, Big Blue Bed & Gooseberry Moon.

The deadline for donations is October 9th. The competition will be open from 19th October to 30th November. There will be a dedicated competition page on the website, all designers who donate will have their store details added to the page. The competition will be promoted outside the crafting community with an aim to draw buyers to the directory and in turn to your selling sites. The competition and all prizes will be displayed at the Handm@de Fair in Oxford on 29th November where Shop Handmade UK is co-exhibiting with Mia Belle Jewellery. Last year Handm@de Fair Oxford had over 1300 visitors so we're hoping to gain many entrants to the competition from this fair.

Try new markets & list your handmade goods for FREE!

Hi All,

Most Sellers are now planning their Christmas stocks, planning any craft fairs we have booked and looking at ways to capture new customers. Many of us are already selling on multiple sites and I think it's fair to say what works for one seller doesn't always work for another, therefore it's best to try different selling sites for ourselves. If you're like me and want to know what's new and where you can try for free then read on as I've found a few new selling sites but more importantly those I'm featuring today are FREE to list on so you can try them without spending a penny.Dreamaid - This UK based site with a global presence is not entirely new, they launched in April this year however much PR work since has been focused on their charity, but that's changing. This site has an interesting concept, Dreamaid is a selling site supporting artist / designers like you and I globally plus there is the Dreamaid Charity which aims to support artisans in poorer countries to help get their products to markets out side their normal reach and for a fair price. Sellers can list as many products as they wish for free and in line with their ethos you can donate a percentage of the sale of your goods to the Dreamaid Charity thereby giving poorer artisans a chance to create and support themselves. Currently listings are indefinite and you only pay a fee of 10% when you sell an item. The site has many new functions and features in the pipeline and the site also supports multiple currencies & languages.

Dreamaid is now focusing on their UK promotions and will soon be featured as part of a 1 hour documentary due to be aired on UK TV in November. No doubt the public interest and their online traffic will skyrocket as a result of this publicity. So with free listings, charitable donations and well planned PR, now is definitely the time to try Dreamaid.

My Ehive - Another UK based selling platform who is just 1 year old and rapidly growing, My Ehive works on a subscription basis with a choice of three shop levels. Your subscription is the only fee you pay, no other listing fees or commissions are payable. Starting on the first level, Bronze will get you a free shop which allows up to 5 products. You can upgrade to Silver for just £4.99 pcm allowing up to 25 products and Gold for £9.99 pcm which allows up to 100 product listings. Both Silver & Gold shops offer some great features like detailed stats, discount codes, shop sections & stock control. All listings no matter what level of subscription you sign up to are indefinite and My Ehive support multiple currencies. I think the Bronze level is a great starter package to give My Ehive a go and all for free.

Dawanda - Based in Germany and considered the main EU selling site it has 3 selling platforms, German, French & English. Currently listings are free on the French & English platforms whilst they are in Beta. They do intend on charging in future but will announce this to members in good time before fees are implemented. As a guide fees on the German platform currently start at €0.10 and increase to €0.30 depending on the price of your item. You only pay a commission of 5% when an item is sold and all listings are live for 120 days. While listings are still free, which might only be for a few more months I'd try out Dawanda now.

Zibbet - Launched in February this year, it's founders are Australian based but this site certainly has a global feel to it. Zibbet offers 2 subscription based shop levels. Basic which is free to list and no commission charges which allows up to 25 products & Premium which is currently on a limited and reduced rate of $7 pcm, normally $15 pcm and allows unlimited products. Zibbet obviously came into this market listening to sellers needs and with some great features like coupons & discounts, import from Etsy, shop customisation, bulk image upload and copy existing listings, I think this could be one to watch.

So all you need is a little time and your products could be in a whole new marketplace capturing new customers, all for free.

Promotional OpportunityYou've all heard the saying 'a picture speaks 1000 words' and that's so true when it comes to our products. Without images to show what we make we'd likely not have any buyers.

Shop Handmade UK is now at the point where I'm designing cards, flyers, online adverts & press releases therefore I need images for these to help buyers see the quality of the goods that all you talented designers make. To do this I need your help and permission. If you would like to submit your images to be used in Shop Handmade UK's promotional and marketing material or have any questions then please get in touch via our contact page or leave me a comment here. As these images will be used for print they must be 300dpi high res. If you do not have any in high res then your images may be used for online ads. Please only send a link to your product and I'll be in touch to request high res images.

Where will this marketing material be used? Business cards would be used daily, flyers are being designed to be distributed at events such as the Misi event in Bristo l and Shop Handmade UK is exhibiting at Handm@de Fair at Oxford in November so these will be going directly to buyers. Images would also be used for online advertising on quality and well known websites of course.

1000 Designers Milestone Reached!

Hi All,

I've just updated the directory with 21 new designers / makers and I'm thrilled to say that this takes the total designers listed on Shop Handmade UK to over 1000. When I started Shop Handmade UK in December 2008 there was 520 listed so that's some growth. More importantly that's many great stores with lots of fabulous products on offer by talented Brits.

This does mean the site needs a little makeover and the directory needs to be split and reorganised to help buyers find what they are looking for. Over the next few weeks I will be making some category suggestions so please comment.

I'm in touch with a PR company who are looking for goodie bag donations for one of their clients. The company runs style and confidence coaching for women via one day workshops. They are looking for donations of items to go into 35 goodie bags for the attendees of their first workshop. Items should be suitable for women aged 30+. If you can't donate products then discount cards are also welcome, any number of products welcome.

The deadline for donating is 3rd August. As this is the first workshop for the company there will be local press, journalists attending the workshop and there is the possibility of national glossies attending however is unconfirmed at this point. Sample Box Update & Trial

Following on from my poll and discussion on a potential Shop Handmade UK Sample Box, I wanted to post some findings and thoughts on the sample box idea and propose a new style of Sample Box.

Most sample boxes are US based and whilst a few of them do appear to work very well, with buyers and donators happy there are some issues that have been raised:

Boxes are priced too low devaluing the products and workmanship
The content is inconsistent in terms of value and duplicate products
Designers / makers who donate do not receive any monetary compensation so this equates to a costly form of promotion
Items donated are usually in the lower price point which is understandable

New Proposal

Based on the above I'm proposing an entirely new approach to the Sample Box concept with the following aims:

Designers will be reimbursed the 'cost' value of the items they donate once they are sold. By 'cost' I mean the cost of materials and time taken to produce the item donated. No other sample box offers reimbursement to designers. This will allow designers to donate higher priced items knowing their costs will be covered.
Designers would pre-agree a price they want for each item to cover costs and this would be agreed before you send any items in. This will help me design boxes based on costs, product and style or theme of each box.
Boxes will be sold on an individual basis, possibly themed depending on the mix of goods donated. All items contained in each box will be listed & pictured so buyers can see what they will receive before purchasing.
Boxes will be offered with a range of prices as opposed one set price according to the contents. Whilst the retail price will be higher than other sample boxes, they will represent a very big saving to the buyer and better value.

Your Input

This is where I need your help. I'd like to plan a few boxes on paper so I can ensure the finished product is both appealing, offers real savings for buyers and offers designers reimbursement for their goods. For those interested in assisting with the trial can you please email the following information about the products you would like to donate, to: info [@] shophandmade.co.uk:

Image of your product
Quantity you can donate
The cost you would need to be reimbursed to cover materials & time
The RRP of the product

(All pricing information will be kept confidential and used only for the purpose of ensuring each designer is not out of pocket but reimbursed their actual costs. This is needed as some products cost more to produce than others. The aim is that each designer is not out of pocket.)

Once I have the information I will create images of 1 or more potential boxes with the required purchase prices and distribute this information back to the designers who have donated for their initial feedback. If that is positive then we can move forward to producing and selling.

In the previous poll it was evenly split between those who wanted the sample box sold to UK buyers and those who wanted them sold Worldwide. I think the best way to cater to everyone is to offer an equal split on Etsy and the other half on a UK site to be decided.

Shop Handmade UK Sampler Box Poll

Hi All,

You may recall the Sample box poll I posted a few weeks back. Quite a few of you who voted requested more information on sample boxes so as promised I will explain a bit more about how they work.

The main aim of a sample box is to allow handmakers to get their product sample or discount card in the hands of as many buyers as possible, buyers who want to try new products and are looking to purchase. You can donate either a discount card or a product, the product can be sample size or full size that is up to you and of course the products you sell. You can donate as many samples as you like or are financially able to. The amount of boxes offered to buyers is determined after samples are received by the organiser (Shop Handamde UK) and split to ensure each box is well stocked and buyers receive value for money. This is usually 12-15 products per box.

The benefits of a sampler box is that it's co-ordinated, marketed and organised on your behalf and you benefit from being alongside other handmakers offering quality products and services. Buyers have just the one place to purchase multiple samples from rather than asking many makers for a sample.

There would be a dedicated page on Shop Handmade UK for the sample box, each handmaker who has donated to the box would have an advert on this page with link to their store. The boxes would be sold through either Etsy, Folksy, Misi or Coriandr or a mix, this again depends on what the majority wants.

This is very much at the idea stage, I'm looking for more votes and input by way of comments so if anyone has any questions or suggestions please speak up. Previously it was suggested to have samples for trade buyers. I think this is a great idea, I'm very much for promoting wholesale markets having just created our new Wholesale Page so this is something I will look at in future. For now I'm concentrating more on retail buyers.

New Changes to Shop Handmade UK

Hi All,

I've been busy with a few new changes to www.shophandmade.co.uk all to help shoppers find your stores and promote us handmakers better.

New Homepage Layout - I've moved the product features over to allow a Handmade Directory shortcut. The aim of this is to show instantly what's on offer and to encourage shoppers to browse all the categories and increase traffic to our stores. Under the Handmade Directory shortcut is a link to the Featured Designer so you can see at a glance when this is updated. Our next Featured Designer will be live on Monday so check back for that.

The new homepage layout has allowed 12 product features instead of the original 10 so more space to show off the fabulous talent we have in the UK. Here's a peek at the new layout:

New Handmade Directory Layout - In line with the Handmade Directory shortcut on the homepage I've shortened some of the category names and added a brief overview of the type of products found in each category. This should help shoppers find what they are looking for faster.

New Wholesale Page - Some time back I removed the wholesale column from each category as many listed as unknown and I felt this would serve only to frustrate trade buyers. I have now included all stores who have listed themselves as offering wholesale, on a dedicated Wholesale page. This lists all the categories alphabetically so store owners and retail buyers can do their shopping from the one page saving them time.

As mentioned, a new Featured Designer coming Monday and other updates on their way including new directory additions. Stay tuned....

So what's new at Shop Handmade UK this month?

March Features - As it's March I have new category features throughout the site so do have a click about and see if one of your fabulous pieces has been featured.

Jewellery Category Split - I have finally completed the split of the ever growing Jewellery category into 3 as follows:

1. Jewellery - Designer Metalwork
2. Jewellery - Precious Gemstones
3. Jewellery - Fashion

This split has reduced the size of the category and I feel it allows buyers to define their needs quicker and easier as the product features at the top of each category show a better representation of the type and style of jewellery in that given category.

Gallery Page - Every month or thereabouts I update the entire site with new featured product pictures, all 95 of them. Rather than just delete them I thought it would be great to see them in a gallery style. We all love to shop by pics and this helps buyers see in a very quick glance the type of products being made and more importantly the superb quality on offer. Another tool to prove handmade is a good choice.

Featured Designers - Finally I've added the Featured page. I aim to have the first of our seller / designer feature go live by the end of March. A mini feature will also go here on the blog with link to the full article on the site. If you are interested in being featured or would like to nominate someone, please drop me an email here.

Competitions & Offers Page - I see great sales, competitions or blog giveaways so I've created a page for them to be listed and advertised. This offers great free exposure to increase traffic and sales. If you have a sale, comp or giveaway you would like listed please drop me an email here.

New Coriandr Feature!

We have some Fab news from online selling platform, Coriandr.com. They have just introduced Seedlings which is very similar to Etsy Mini. I personally think it's even better as it allows the same row and column input but it's not static, when you refresh the page it actually rotates your products randomly so visitors will never be bored. If you are a seller already on Coriandr.com then try try Seedlings for yourself.

If you are not yet selling on Coriandr.com then it might be worth checking them out as they offer forever listings, that's right, pay your fee once and that's it until your item is sold.

UK Selling Opportunities

I'm still here! I'm currently updating Shop Handmade UK with new sellers of handmade lovelyness. Most submit via the site but I also trawl the main sites to find new sellers. As a jewellery maker I'm used to the jewellery categories bursting with listings, it's a competitive product so I was amazed to see some categories offer a few opportunities. If your goods fall into these categories or if you've been thinking about turning your hand to something creative or perhaps a new craft then it might be worth considering a new store:

Coriandr

Edible - There are no Edible goods listed on Coriandr. Folksy as yet does not permit edible goods so if you make yummy treats worth a look.

Bath & Body Care - There is just 1, yes 1 Bath & Body care seller listed AND they are US based, IMO this is a great opportunity to set up a shop here and benefit from UK sales.

Candles - Only 1 seller with 4 items.

Furniture - Just 1 page.

Folksy

Furniture - Again there are only a few pages. You needn't make from scratch you can upcycle or decorate.

These are observations only and we really like to promote the 3 main UK based selling platforms (Coriandr, Folksy & Misi) as these are most likely to bring in UK buyers and support us UK makers.

200+ Jewellery Category

Hi Everyone,

Very soon the jewellery category on www .shophandmade.co.uk will have over 200 listings, much more than the majority of categories so I am considering spliting the category into 3 sections. I'm not a fan of creating additional clicks to get to the listings but I feel this would help both buyers and sellers. The 3 sections I'm considering are:

Hand Forged / Metalsmithing
Beaded / Gemstone (Semi-precious / precious gems and metals)

Last week was a busy week and I've another 9 more stores to add to the site today. Don't forget it's the last week to enter the 'Love Is' competition. Get your product featured on http://www.shophandmade.co.uk. To enter simply go to our Contact page http://www.shophandmade.co.uk/contact.php fill in your name and email, in the subject box type in 'Love Is Comp' and in the Message box enter your business name, product category and a link to the product you want featured and feel fits the ‘Love Is’ theme. All entries will be shortlisted by category first and then the best selected for the Home Page & the Handmade Directory.

'Love Is' Competition live - Enter Now!

I've had quite a few sellers ask me how they can get their product featured or if they can advertise in the picture galleries so with Valentines day approaching I felt I would spread the love a little. I'm offering the chance to WIN your product featured in one of Shop Handmade UK’s image galleries. There are a total of 49 spots to be won between the individual Category pages, the Handmade Directory page and the Home page. The competition starts today, Wed 7th Jan 2009 and closes Fri 23rd Jan 2009.

Winners will be featured on Shop Handmade from Monday 26th Jan for the 3 weeks leading up to Valentines Day.

To enter simply go to our Contact page http://www.shophandmade.co.uk/contact.php fill in your name and email, in the subject box type in 'Love Is Comp' and in the Message box enter your business name, product category and a link to the product you want featured and feel fits the ‘Love Is’ theme. All entries will be shortlisted by category first and then the best selected for the Home Page & the Handmade Directory.

Do not be discouraged if you don’t have anything heart related, your product does not have to be obvious so be creative and inventive but if you do have lots of red hearts then lets see them. As long as your product image reflects love and romance you’re in with a chance.

You may have been added to the directory already but please check your details, add other shops you may have on www.folksy.com, www.misi.me.uk, www.coriandr.com or other sites you are selling from and even your own website. Hi Everyone,

Thanks to all who have added or updated their site to http://www.shophandmade.co.uk

From speaking to others on forums I know many have sales splits like myself which is approximately 50-80% of Etsy sales are US. I personally feel UK buyers prefer to purchase in GBP and with exchange rates changing as much as they have it makes perfect sense, so my call is to all to get their UK sites listed on the directory. If you have a store at http://www.folksy.com, http://www.misi.me.uk or http://www.coriandr.com then please add these now so UK buyers can find you.

Also some have asked if you can list your store in more than 1 category, if you have products that sit in different categories then please add your store to both or more if applicable.

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to Shop Handmade UK's blog and our official launch of the site today.

I started http://www.shophandmade.co.uk with the aim of promoting handmade products to UK buyers and based the Handmade Directory on the old Etsy UK sellers list. The Handmade Directory has 12 categories. For new sellers you can add your details via the Add Me page.

You can list 5 websites per business so you can list your stores on Etsy, Folksy, Dawanda and even your own business website or any other store you have. It's free to list so please add your store details OR if you are already listed with your Etsy store update your details to add other stores you sell from.

If anyone has any questions or suggestions post here or contact us via the site. I've lots of great plans for the site to help promote our handmade products so please bookmark us.
